Production Caller ID Signal Simulator - Support

Power-Up Error Codes:

Once turned on, the AI-80 undergoes a number of steps to check its internal systems and load its system level software. In the event an error is detected, a message is displayed on the front panel. The possible fault conditions and their meaning are:

Display Description / Corrective Measure
CALInvalid or Missing Calibration Items:
Calibration items are either missing from the flash memory or are corrupted. In this situation the display shows ‘CAL’ and the 'Start' LED flashed. The AI-80's operation is suspended until the 'Start' key is pressed. Once pressed, normal operation will resume; however, the missing calibration items should be corrected to ensure proper operation.

Use the A.I.WorkBench software to perform a restore of the system flash memory files. If this does not correct the problem, please contact technical support for assistance.
ERR1Missing System Program:
This error occurs if the AI-80 can not locate the primary system program within the internal flash memory. This may happen if the flash memory has become corrupted. Without this file the AI-80 can not establish normal communications with the A.I.WorkBench software.

To restore the missing file, the program must be re-loaded into the flash memory. This is done by first booting the AI-80 via a serial connection from the host PC and then writing the missing file to the flash memory. See sections 4-3 and 4-4 in the AI-80 User Guide document for more information.
ERR2Missing Unit Configuration File:
If the configuration data file is missing or corrupted within the flash memory, this error is displayed. The file contains various factory calibration settings and is required for proper operations.

Use the A.I.WorkBench software to perform a restore of the system flash memory files. Normally A.I.WorkBench keeps a copy of the configuration file as is able to reload it into the units flash memory. If a copy of the file is not available, contact technical support for assistance.
ERR3Missing Program Boot File:
One of the last steps in the AI-80’s startup procedure is to begin execution of the Boot program (program ID #1). If this file is missing from the flash memory, the error code is displayed. Without the boot program the System Launcher program (which manages the user programs and implements the user interface) will not be started.

Use the A.I.WorkBench software to perform a restore of the system flash memory files. If this does not correct the problem, please contact technical support for assistance.

Functional Check Error Codes:

The AI-80 can be forced to execute a functional check of itself by holding down the Pause key when the unit it first turned on. The Pause key must be held for approximately two seconds, until a second beep is heard. Releasing the key will then start the functional check.

In order to perform the functional check, a RJ-11 telephone cord must be connected to the AI-80 as shown in the figure below.

If the AI-80 reports a failure, it will display both an error code and its measurement value that failed. The display alternates between the error code (shown with a leading ‘F’ character) and the measurement value. Since the AI-80 is operating outside its specified limits, it should be returned for repair or calibration.

See "Section 1, Functional Check of the AI-80" in the User Guide document for more information on performing the check.
